Week 8 Progress

Image
I am very happy with my progress in this class and I feel like I have developed a pretty good routine on completing my assignments. I have enjoyed creating my own version of stories and putting my very own twists to them. I have done some of the extra credit assignments as I have found them to actually be somewhat enjoyable. I feel like my blog and website are coming along nicely and I am happy how they both have turned out. Looking forward I hope to continue my same routine of completing assignments as they have gone pretty well.  Mountain

Week 8 Comments and Feedback

Image
I would say the comments left on my posts are overall pretty helpful. People are very good at using positive reinforcement and pointing out what they really like about my posts and what I should keep doing and what is working for me. I would say the majority of the comments I leave on people's posts are pretty similar on how people leave comments for me. I try and leave comments on the things that stand out to me and that I like to encourage them on continuing to use that strategy. Even though I am not necessarily seeing these people face to face, I still feel like I am getting to know my classmates a little better based on their writing and comments. Looking forward, I will continue to leave positive reinforcement comments on people's posts because in my eyes, it is the best form of feedback. Feedback helps you see the road ahead I enjoyed this picture because I like the sunset and it is true that feedback can point you in the right direction or better direction than you prev...

Week 8 Reading and Writing

Image
I feel like the reading and writing assignments are going pretty well for me and I have been able to put some interesting spins on my stories I have been writing. I am pretty happy with how my portfolio and website has turned out. I feel like I have found the writing style for the different stories I have made really work with what I am overall trying to do. I enjoy writing in a sort of interview/radio style setting in my stories to get different perspectives about the various stories. Making reading notes before making my stories really do help because I am able to get all the main information and make a general outline of what I want to do with my story. Arjuna I picked this picture because it is of the last story I came up with and I really enjoyed making a talk show radio type of story about Arjuna. This was a big character and fun to write about. Looking forward, I hope to continue reading these stories and using them as different interviews or radio talk shows.

Growth Mindset: Make a Mindset Motto

Image
Image I came up with this quote from a variety of different quotes I have heard before. Whenever I get stressed, I I always have to remind myself I cannot change the past. What is done is done and I can only move forward so there is no point in dwelling in the past. If I get stressed for what is coming up in the future, I do what I can in the present to make the future work out in my best interest as much as possible. Following these principles I tend to lower my stress levels and become more confident in myself.

StoryLab: Ted Talk Videos

Image
The Danger of a Single Story I really enjoyed listening to this ted talk because I can relate it to my life very easily. She talks about how many people have viewed her in a single mindset. People have been stereotyping her for quite some time now just because of her heritage and her skin color. She tells the troubles of having a single story which relates to just having a single mindset of something and not have a perspective. However, she also talks about how she has had a single story mindset. I can relate this to my life because I have been guilty of stereotyping certain things because I am not knowledgeable about certain things. I should go about life with a multiple perspectives and slow to judge someone because I might not know the whole story. Imaginary Friends and Real-World Consequences: Parasocial Friendships I had never really thought about how I connect with fictional characters in movies or books but I definitely do. I have seen both Harry Potter and Game of Thrones and h...
